Stained Glass Leadlight vs. Copper Foil Methods: Which One is Right for You?
At our stained glass workshops, we offer two distinct methods for creating beautiful glass art—Leadlight and Copper Foil. Each technique offers a unique approach and is suited to different types of projects.
Leadlight Construction is the traditional method of creating stained glass using lead came to join the pieces together. This technique is perfect for larger, bold projects like windows, doors, and decorative panels. It’s ideal for those who appreciate the timeless look of classic stained glass and want to create robust, structural pieces.
Copper Foiling is a more intricate method that uses copper foil tape to join glass pieces, making it perfect for smaller, detailed works such as lampshades, sun catchers, and decorative panels with fine lines and curves. This method allows for greater flexibility and fine detailing, ideal for those interested in more delicate or contemporary designs.
Both methods offer a hands-on, creative experience, and regardless of which you choose, you’ll walk away with a beautiful piece of art that’s all your own!
